Go Within :: Active Meditations

Dates for this series: November 4th, 11th, & 18th

“sthira sukham āsanam”
Translation: The postures of meditation should embody steadiness and ease. No one ever said which posture must be used for meditation, only that whatever you choose should be steady, sthira, and happy, sukham. In this series we will discover which asanas best suit each of us for meditation. Each session will start with some movement to loosen up the body, opening the hips, unwinding tension in the back, where we will observe our ability to keep our focus on the sensations that arise in the body. Then we will settle into a few asanas, exploring how each affects the body, the breath, and the mind, with a focus on grounded postures, seated postures, and forward folds. At the end of each session, we’ll assume the posture we are most drawn to and settle in for a guided meditation.
